An Indonesia company lookup runs through AHU Online, the system of the Direktorat Jenderal Administrasi Hukum Umum (Ditjen AHU) within the Kementerian Hukum. The profile search is at ahu.go.id/pencarian/profil-pt, and a separate AHU Unduh Data service handles downloads. This guide covers the breadth of what that one search reaches, who actually operates the filing services, and where the page stops. If you need the Indonesian population rather than one company at a time, the Indonesia company directory covers the same registered entities with industry, size and contact breakdowns attached, and the Indonesia business database is the same file described as a dataset.
Indonesia company lookup: the short version
- One profile search spans eight categories: Perseroan, Perseroan Perorangan, Yayasan, Perkumpulan, Fidusia, Pemilik Manfaat, Badan Usaha Non Badan Hukum and Partai Politik.
- AHU Unduh Data is a search application built to help the general public find information and download data on that same set.
- The operator for these services is a notary — filings reach the register through a notary-mediated chain.
- The name-booking feature reports whether a proposed name has similarity or resemblance to an existing legal entity, not only an exact match.
One search, eight categories
The profile search lists what it covers, and the list is the finding:
Perseroan — limited liability companies · Perseroan Perorangan — individual companies · Yayasan — foundations · Perkumpulan — associations · Fidusia — fiduciary security · Pemilik Manfaat — beneficial owners · Badan Usaha Non Badan Hukum — non-legal-entity business undertakings · Partai Politik — political parties.
Eight categories in one place. Most national systems in this series separate at least some of these — companies in one register, associations in another, security interests somewhere else again, beneficial ownership in a register of its own. Indonesia's public profile search presents them as one menu.
The download service names the same set. "AHU Unduh Data : Aplikasi pencarian yang dibuat untuk membantu masyarakat umum mengetahui informasi dan melakukan pengunduhan data tentang data Perseroan, Perseroan Perorangan, Yayasan, Perkumpulan, Fidusia, Pemilik Manfaat dan Badan Usaha Non Hukum." — AHU Unduh Data: a search application built to help the general public find information and download data on Perseroan, Perseroan Perorangan, Yayasan, Perkumpulan, Fidusia, Pemilik Manfaat and Badan Usaha Non Hukum.
Customer services for the search are at cs@ahu.go.id.
On Pemilik Manfaat, exactly what the sources say
Pemilik Manfaat — beneficial owners — is listed as a category on the public profile search, and the download service names it too.
That is the whole of what this page asserts, and the restraint is deliberate rather than coy. Neither source describes what the beneficial-owner search returns, which fields it carries, who may see them, or whether any authentication is required. A category on a menu establishes that the category exists on the menu. It does not establish that the data behind it is open, public or unrestricted — and stating any of those would be an inference, of exactly the kind that gets quoted back and turns out to be wrong.
So: the category is listed. What it returns is not described here. INDONESIA_REPORT.md flags this first.
One sentence of context is available without inference, and it is a comparison of published facts rather than a judgement. Several registers in this series have restricted access to beneficial ownership data — the Luxembourg company lookup guide covers a register whose public consultation was suspended following a Court of Justice judgment, the Estonia company lookup guide covers one that stopped publishing beneficial owner data as open data on a stated date, and the Slovakia company lookup guide covers one where the data is filed into the commercial register and published in none of its outputs. Those registers restricted access; Indonesia's search lists the category. Nothing beyond that is claimed here, and Indonesia is not compared favourably to anywhere.
The operator is a notary
The practical fact behind everything above is who actually works the system:
"Namun perlu diketahui bahwa user atau operator untuk layanan ini adalah Notaris."
However, it should be known that the user or operator for this service is a Notary.
That reframes a common question. A reader asking why has this change not appeared yet is asking about a notary-mediated filing chain, not about a portal queue or a registry backlog. The person who submits is a notary, and the timing of what you can see is downstream of that.
This page does not describe the chain — how a filing moves, what the notary must do, or how long any step takes. None of it was sourced. What is sourced is who the operator is, and that alone changes where a reader should direct a question.
What an Indonesian company register entry contains
A self-contained summary. Indonesia's legal entity administration runs through AHU Online, the system of the Direktorat Jenderal Administrasi Hukum Umum (Ditjen AHU) within the Kementerian Hukum, with a public profile search at ahu.go.id. That search lists eight categories: Perseroan, Perseroan Perorangan, Yayasan, Perkumpulan, Fidusia, Pemilik Manfaat, Badan Usaha Non Badan Hukum and Partai Politik, with customer services at cs@ahu.go.id. AHU Unduh Data is described as a search application built to help the general public find information and download data on Perseroan, Perseroan Perorangan, Yayasan, Perkumpulan, Fidusia, Pemilik Manfaat and Badan Usaha Non Hukum. The user or operator for these services is a Notary. Through the name-booking feature, the person booking can find out whether the name of the legal entity they intend to book has similarity or resemblance to another legal entity. The Perseroan section offers Cek Nama Perseroan Terbatas, Pendaftaran Perseroan Terbatas and Cek Korporasi Nonaktif. AHU Online's service index spans, among others, Perseroan Terbatas, Fidusia Online, Perkumpulan, Yayasan, Badan Usaha, Wasiat, Partai Politik, Koperasi, Pemilik Manfaat Korporasi, Perseroan Perorangan, Kurator dan Pengurus, and Legalisasi-Apostille. This summary does not describe what any of these searches returns, because no field list was established from the Ministry's own pages on the date shown; in particular it does not describe what the Pemilik Manfaat search returns, who may access it, or what authentication it requires.
A name check that looks for resemblance
One workflow fact is worth a line because it is unusual and it is the Ministry's own statement.
Through the name-booking feature, "pemesan dapat mengetahui apabila nama badan hukum yang akan dipesannya memiliki kesamaan atau kemiripan dengan badan hukum lain" — the person booking can find out whether the name of the legal entity they intend to book has similarity or resemblance (kesamaan atau kemiripan) to another legal entity.
Similarity or resemblance, not only an exact match. A name check that flags resemblance is answering a different and harder question than a uniqueness lookup, and anyone reasoning about Indonesian name collisions should know the system is built to catch near-matches rather than duplicates alone.
Alongside it, the Perseroan section offers three named services: Cek Nama Perseroan Terbatas (checking a company name), Pendaftaran Perseroan Terbatas (company registration), and Cek Korporasi Nonaktif.
That last one deserves naming on its own: a separate service for checking inactive corporations. What it returns is not described here — only that it exists and what it is called.
Where an Indonesia lookup stops
The company register sits inside a much larger legal-administration system, and the service index shows the scale of it: AHU Online spans, among others, Perseroan Terbatas, Fidusia Online, Perkumpulan, Yayasan, Badan Usaha, Wasiat (wills), Partai Politik, Koperasi (cooperatives), Pemilik Manfaat Korporasi, Perseroan Perorangan, Kurator dan Pengurus, and Legalisasi-Apostille.
A reader arriving looking for a company register has arrived at the general legal administration directorate of a ministry, which happens to run one.
This page describes no field returned by any of these searches. No field list was sourced, and that limit applies most strictly to Pemilik Manfaat, where the temptation to infer is strongest and the cost of being wrong is highest. INDONESIA_REPORT.md records each gap with what would confirm it.
Where the question is a population rather than a company, a firmographic directory covers the same registered entities with classification, size and contact data attached and queryable as a set; the Asia company directory breaks the regional file down by market.
Data quality pitfalls to avoid in Indonesia
Reading a menu category as a description of access. Pemilik Manfaat is listed on the public search and named by the download service; what it returns, to whom, and under what conditions is not established here.
Assuming a company register scope. One search spans companies, individual companies, foundations, associations, fiduciary security, beneficial owners, non-legal-entity businesses and political parties.
Treating a delay as a portal problem. The user or operator for these services is a notary, so timing questions are questions about a notary-mediated filing chain.
Expecting a name check to test only exact matches. The booking feature reports similarity or resemblance to another legal entity.
Looking for inactive corporations in the main company check. Cek Korporasi Nonaktif is a separate named service.
Assuming a field list. None was sourced for any of these searches, so treat field coverage as unverified rather than as known.
A repeatable Indonesia company lookup workflow
- Establish which of the eight categories your subject falls into before searching.
- Use AHU Unduh Data when you need to download rather than to look up.
- Check Cek Korporasi Nonaktif separately when the question is whether a corporation is inactive.
- Run a name check expecting resemblance matches, not only exact ones.
- Direct timing questions at the notary-mediated filing chain rather than at the portal.
- Verify independently what any of these searches returns, because this page does not establish it.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Indonesian legal-entity search cover?
Eight categories: Perseroan, Perseroan Perorangan, Yayasan, Perkumpulan, Fidusia, Pemilik Manfaat, Badan Usaha Non Badan Hukum and Partai Politik.
Is Indonesian beneficial ownership data public?
This page does not say. Pemilik Manfaat is listed as a category on the public profile search and is named by the download service. What the search returns, who may access it, and what authentication is required were not established from the sources read.
Can I download Indonesian legal-entity data?
AHU Unduh Data is described as a search application built to help the general public find information and download data on that set of categories.
Who operates these services?
The Ministry states that the user or operator for this service is a Notary.
Why has a change not appeared yet?
That is a question about a notary-mediated filing chain. This page does not describe the chain, which was not sourced.
Does the name check catch similar names?
Yes. Through the booking feature the person booking can find out whether the name has similarity or resemblance to another legal entity.
How do I check an inactive corporation?
Through Cek Korporasi Nonaktif, a separate named service in the Perseroan section.

Every Indonesian sentence quoted above is the publisher's own wording, read on the date shown, with an English gloss beside it rather than in place of it. No amount appears anywhere in this page's prose.
The tightest restraint on this page concerns Pemilik Manfaat. The sources establish that the category is listed on the public search and named by the download service. They do not describe its fields, its access conditions, or whether authentication is required — so this page says the category exists and stops, and does not call Indonesian beneficial ownership data open, public or unrestricted. INDONESIA_REPORT.md flags that first, naming what would confirm it.
The readings that are InfobelPRO's rather than the Ministry's: that eight categories in one search is unusual against the separated registers described elsewhere in this series; that a notary operator relocates timing questions from the portal to the filing chain; and that a name check reporting resemblance is answering a harder question than a uniqueness lookup. Those are ours. The comparison with Luxembourg, Estonia and Slovakia states what those registers did and what Indonesia's search lists, and draws no conclusion beyond that.
