Our approach

Launched in 1995 as the first online telephone directory, Infobel has grown into a leading global provider of business data. For nearly three decades, we’ve been at the forefront of data privacy across telecommunications, online directories, and database solutions. We’ve continuously evolved alongside European privacy regulations, actively shaping industry privacy standards through participation in key industry groups. Our deep-rooted expertise and trusted relationships with global regulators uniquely position us to help you navigate today’s complex privacy landscape—ensuring compliance without compromising your business growth.

Infobel’s Key Guiding Principles

1. Privacy by Design & 100% EU-based Processing

We embed data protection into every stage—from initial sourcing through internal processing, to final customer delivery. All data is processed and securely stored exclusively within the EU, fully compliant with Europe’s robust privacy framework.

2. Transparent Data Traceability
We ensure full transparency by making each data record traceable to its original source, often with direct and verifiable links. Our clients always know exactly how their data was sourced, processed, and managed.

3. Regulatory Leadership
We actively shape industry privacy standards through close collaboration with regulatory bodies and industry groups. For example, we’re a key partner of Siinda, a non-profit advocating on behalf of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to influence European digital marketing and AI regulations.
4. Flexible Data Solutions

We provide tailored data solutions designed to meet specific customer use cases, recognizing that requirements differ significantly—such as consent-based data usage for direct marketing or legitimate-interest grounds for analytics. We adapt quickly to evolving regulations and market demands, ensuring compliance without compromising efficiency.

5. Data Built on Official Sources
Our data foundations are rooted in official trade registers, enriched by verified business directories, and cross-validated against reliable public records.

Our Data Privacy System In Practice

Applicable law and competent jurisdiction

Infobel is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, and operates under Belgian law and oversight from local data privacy authorities. However, we serve customers globally, ensuring our data solutions consistently comply with international and local privacy regulations, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the US.

Lawful Basis for Data Processing

Infobel processes data strictly within the lawful bases defined by the GDPR:

B2B Data

Infobel’s B2B datasets are primarily derived from official trade and business registers, enriched by publicly accessible web sources, and cross-verified against trusted directory records to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance.

We collect, process, and share B2B data under the lawful basis of  legitimate interest, in line with GDPR Article 6.1(f). We regularly perform assessments and maintain strict safeguards to ensure this legal basis is applied responsibly and transparently.

Data subjects can request access, correction, or deletion of their data through our dedicated DPO form (https://dpo.infobel.com/). When requests specifically reference our data providers, we promptly notify the relevant provider to maintain transparency.

B2C Data

Infobel is especially diligent about protecting personal data of individuals, strictly adhering to the provisions of the GDPR (Regulation EU 2016/679) and the Belgian Data Protection Act of 30 July 2018.

For all B2C data, particularly data used for marketing purposes, we ensure explicit consent is obtained where required by law, respecting data subjects’ privacy rights at every step.
